Tourism of Catalonia

The spectacular beaches in areas such as the Costa Brava, its world-class gastronomy, and the works of famous artists such as Gaudí and Dalí all make this region one of Spain’s most popular destinations.

You’ll find so many interesting examples of culture that you won't even know where to begin: unique buildings in Barcelona (known as “the capital of Modernism”) such as the Sagrada Familia Cathedral or the Palau de la Música Catalana Auditorium, the outstanding archaeological site at Tarraco, the monastery of Poblet in Tarragona, the churches of the Boí valley in Lleida… all declared World Heritage sites by the UNESCO.

What's more you can opt to enjoy a whole range of events thanks to the programme of world-class museums like the National Art Museum of Catalonia and the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres.
Visitors to this area in northeast Spain should also make a point of stopping off at the spectacular beaches of the Costa Dorada, Costa Barcelona and Costa Brava, with such internationally renowned resorts as Salou, Sitges, Tossa de Mar, Cadaqués, Lloret de Mar and Roses.

Take advantage of the fact that Catalonia has multiple Nautical Stations to practice activities at sea.

And for mountain landscapes, there is nothing better than to take an excursion to the Catalan Pyrenees (its ski resorts are perfect for snow tourism) or to the National Park of Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici.

Which park do you prefer? Each country park has a special charm. You can discover coastal, inland or mountain environments, such as the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. It is the only National Park of Catalonia: water is the protagonist. It has almost 200 lakes, surrounded by imposing hazards and rich flora and fauna.

In the Catalan cultural universe, museums, galleries, literature, architecture ... orbit around universal geniuses. They were sublime in different disciplines, shared being born or lived in Catalonia and, above all, have left the mark of their creation forever.

The beaches of the Costa Brava are a delight for all. If you are a fan of the beach, here you will find your paradise free from stress and pollution, with all the services to enjoy it comfortably. This is certified by the Blue Flag that many of the beaches in the area have obtained.

When the sun falls you discover a new Catalonia. An animated conversation with friends, feeling the gentle sea breeze on a terrace, can be a good starting point for Catalan nightlife. The terraces are a fundamental element of nightlife and are a good start, but you have many more. Catalan night is varied. Beyond bars, discos or cocktail bars you will find everywhere, you have other genuine proposals that enter into the Mediterranean spirit of Catalonia.

Catalonia, a great look
